Geosesarma sp.
Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia
Geosesarma sp. 'Sulawesi' is an undescribed semi-terrestrial forest crab from the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, displaying striking variable coloration from vibrant orange to deep purple. Like all Geosesarma it requires a paludarium or vivarium setup providing both a humid terrestrial area and a shallow freshwater section for soaking. Its rarity, striking coloration, and fascinating semi-terrestrial behavior make it one of the most desirable freshwater invertebrates for advanced paludarium keepers.
Set up a paludarium with 60–70% land area using moist substrate (coconut fiber, sphagnum) and 30–40% shallow water (< 5 cm deep). Humidity should remain above 80%. Feed a varied omnivorous diet: high-quality crab pellets, blanched vegetables, fruit pieces, dried shrimp, and occasional live insects. Provide hiding spots on the land area. Mist the terrarium daily. Fully aquatic setups will cause drowning.
