Caridina sp. 'White Glove'
Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia
The White Glove Shrimp from Sulawesi is a captivating species with a transparent to whitish body and distinctive bright white front claws and legs that give it its common name — as if wearing tiny white gloves. Like the Cardinal Shrimp, it is endemic to the ancient volcanic lakes of Sulawesi and requires the same specific warm, alkaline, and hard water chemistry to thrive. Best maintained in a species-only or Sulawesi community setup rather than a general freshwater shrimp tank.
Identical requirements to Sulawesi Cardinal Shrimp: pH 7.5–8.5, GH 10–20, KH 6–12, temperature 27–30°C using Sulawesi mineral salt additives. Sponge filtration only. Provide a heavily biofilm-colonized tank with Sulawesi-appropriate décor (local volcanic rocks). Never use copper-containing medications. Feed specialized shrimp foods, spirulina powder, and biofilm. Do not mix with aggressive shrimp species.
