The Sulawesi White Orchid Shrimp is a captivating Caridina species from the ancient lakes of Sulawesi, Indonesia, characterised by a creamy to pure white body with subtle translucent patterning and occasional pale markings. Its appearance is ethereal and delicate, reflecting the pristine, mineral-rich lake waters of its origin. Water quality management is critical — the warm, alkaline, and relatively hard parameters of Sulawesi lakes must be carefully replicated.
Water: 27–30°C, pH 7.8–8.5, TDS 200–350, GH 8–15, KH 4–8; Sulawesi mineral salts. Tank: minimum 30 L, smooth pebbles and limestone, sponge filter for gentle flow. Feeding: biofilm, powdered shrimp food, soft algae; do not overfeed. Behaviour: peaceful and slow-moving; grazes biofilm from rock surfaces. Compatibility: Sulawesi species-only; no fish.
