Yasuhikotakia eos
Also known as: Sun Loach, Eos Loach
Origin: Thailand, Cambodia
Yasuhikotakia eos is one of the more vividly coloured smaller Yasuhikotakia species, displaying a warm orange-red or rusty body with darker dorsal saddles. It inhabits fast-flowing, highly oxygenated tributaries and adapts well to aquariums with good flow. Group dynamics are important, as solitary specimens become stressed and withdrawn.
Water: 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, well-oxygenated with moderate to strong flow. Tank: Minimum 120 L, smooth substrate, driftwood and flat stones for cover. Feeding: Sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia, live invertebrates. Behaviour: Active mid-day shoaler; will spar playfully within group hierarchy. Compatibility: Semi-aggressive in cramped conditions; best with medium community species.
