Trichogaster lalius
Also known as: Sunset Dwarf Gourami, Sunset Gourami
Origin: South Asia
The Sunset Dwarf Gourami is a captive-bred colour morph of Colisa lalia that displays warm orange-red sunset colouration throughout the body. It shares the gentle temperament and small size of other Dwarf Gourami varieties. Like all T. lalius forms, it benefits from clean water and a planted environment with low water flow.
Water: temp 25–28°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to medium hardness. Tank: minimum 60L; well-planted with floating plants; gentle filtration recommended. Feeding: omnivore — flakes, micro pellets, live or frozen daphnia, brine shrimp. Behaviour: peaceful; males may display to rivals; one male per tank suggested. Compatibility: suited to peaceful small fish communities; avoid aggressive or boisterous tankmates.
