Syngnathus scovelli
Origin: Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic
Syngnathus scovelli, the Gulf Pipefish, is an elegant relative of the seahorse with a long, slender body and fascinating male brood pouch. Adapts better to aquarium life than many pipefish species. Ideal for seagrass or heavily planted FOWLR setups.
Provide seagrass or macro-algae habitat. Feed live Artemia nauplii, live copepods, small live mysids. Temperature 22–26°C, SG 1.020–1.025. Cannot compete with aggressive fish for food. Pairs or small groups.
