Corydoras hastatus
Also known as: Tail-spot Pygmy Cory, Dwarf Corydoras
Origin: South America
Corydoras hastatus is among the smallest members of the genus, rarely exceeding 3.5 cm, and is unusual in that it often swims in the mid-water column rather than remaining strictly at the bottom. The distinctive black spot at the base of the tail fin makes identification straightforward. Ideal for nano aquariums and planted tanks.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to medium hardness; adaptable. Tank: 40L+, fine sand or smooth substrate, plants and floating cover, gentle flow. Feeding: Micro sinking foods, daphnia, cyclops, baby brine shrimp, and small micro pellets. Behaviour: Mid-water and bottom swimmer; shoaling species requiring groups of 8+. Compatibility: Ideal nano species; keep only with very small, peaceful fish.
