Caridina cantonensis var. 'Extreme Blue Steel'
Also known as: Extreme Blue Steel Shrimp, Blue Steel Taiwan Bee
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Southern China
The Extreme Blue Steel Taiwan Bee represents one of the most intensely colored blue Caridina morphs available to hobbyists. Selectively bred for maximum saturation of a metallic steel-blue full-body coloration, these shrimp display a strikingly uniform, deep blue that verges on iridescent under aquarium lighting. Like all Taiwan Bee variants, they are unforgiving of water quality lapses, requiring soft, acidic, low-TDS conditions with an active substrate and RO base water. Their color expression is directly linked to water quality and diet — premium shrimp pellets with added color enhancers and mineral-rich foods support the best pigmentation results.
Water: pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 80–130 ppm, temperature 20–24°C; strict RO water with Caridina GH+ mineral and active buffering substrate. Tank: 30–60 litres; dense moss, Indian almond leaf litter; sponge filtration. Feeding: Premium color-enhancing shrimp pellets, biofilm, algae, mineral-rich foods. Breeding: Stable parameters essential; select deepest-colored specimens for breeding stock. Compatibility: Species-only; never mix with Neocaridina or harder-water species.
