Blastomussa wellsi
Origin: Indo-Pacific (aquacultured morph)
This distinctive aquacultured teal morph of Blastomussa wellsi produces large, round, fleshy polyps in a striking blue-green teal with contrasting oral disc patterns rarely seen in standard wild-collected specimens. Under blue actinic and reef lighting the teal fluorescence becomes intensely vivid, making it an exceptional display coral for nano and mid-sized reef aquariums. It shares the same beginner-friendly care requirements as standard Blastomussa, thriving in lower light conditions and responding visibly to supplemental feeding.
Place in low to medium light (30–80 PAR) with low to moderate indirect flow. Target feed 2–3 times per week with reef roids, frozen mysis, or coral-specific liquid foods for best polyp extension and growth. Allow polyps to fully expand before feeding nearby. Stable alkalinity (8–9 dKH) and calcium (420–440 ppm) support steady growth. Keep clear of aggressive stinging neighbors.
