Carassius auratus
Origin: Captive bred
The Telescope Eye Red Goldfish features the iconic dramatically protruding spherical eyes set on elongated stalks that define the telescope eye variety, combined with a deep, uniform orange-red coloration and the characteristic rounded body form and flowing double tail of fancy goldfish. Its dramatic eye form makes it an immediately recognizable and highly valued ornamental fish, though the protruding eyes require a carefully designed, hazard-free environment.
Maintain in a smooth-sided aquarium with no sharp decorations or protruding objects. House only with other fancy goldfish varieties of comparable swimming speed — ideally other telescope or moor varieties. Feed sinking gel-based or sinking pellet foods to prevent surface air ingestion and associated swim bladder issues. Provide strong biological filtration and weekly 20–30% water changes. Monitor eyes for signs of injury or infection.
