Amphiprion thiellei
Origin: Philippines
Amphiprion thiellei is an exceptionally rare and little-studied clownfish from the Philippines, thought by some researchers to be a natural hybrid between related species and by others to represent a distinct species. It presents a pale orange body with a single white head bar and yellowish fins, occupying an unusual morphological and ecological niche. Very few specimens have been kept in captivity, making this a genuinely remarkable find for dedicated clownfish collectors.
House in a reef aquarium with a suitable host anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor or Heteractis magnifica). Feed a varied omnivorous diet of frozen mysis, Artemia, quality marine pellets, and occasional algae-based foods twice daily. Keep singly or as a mated pair only — clownfish are territorial toward conspecifics. Provide stable, high-quality water. Due to its rarity, source from reputable specialist collectors to ensure specimens are responsibly obtained.
