Laetacara dorsigera
Origin: South America (Paraguay basin)
The Gold Threadfin Acara is a warm golden color variant of Laetacara dorsigera from the Paraguay basin, featuring delicate, slightly elongated fin rays and soft golden-orange to cream coloration. These charming dwarf cichlids display fascinating biparental care behaviors, guarding eggs and fry with dedication while remaining largely peaceful toward other tank inhabitants. An ideal species for planted South American biotope aquariums.
Provide caves, coconut shells, or flat stones as spawning sites. Soft to moderately soft, slightly acidic water preferred. Feed micro-pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia, and Artemia. Compatible with small tetras, Corydoras, and other peaceful South American community fish. Remove extremely bold or predatory dither fish during spawning periods.
