Iriatherina werneri
Origin: Australia / New Guinea
Iriatherina werneri — the threadfin or featherfin rainbowfish — is an exquisite nano species with extraordinarily elongated dorsal, anal, and pelvic fins with thread-like extensions in males. The delicate, almost translucent body with vivid orange and black fin markings is breathtaking in a well-planted aquarium. It requires very gentle flow and gentle tankmates — fin-nipping species will destroy its elaborate finnage. Best in species tanks or with very peaceful nano companions.
pH 6.0–8.0. Very gentle flow. 40+ L planted. Groups of 8+. NO fin-nippers. Feed: micro foods — infusoria, micro pellets, live/frozen artemia nauplii.
