Amphiprion tricinctus
Origin: Marshall Islands
Amphiprion tricinctus, the Three-Band Clownfish, is a distinctive and uncommon species endemic to the Marshall Islands, recognizable by its brown to near-black body divided by three well-defined white bars — a high-contrast graphic pattern that sets it apart from most other clownfish. It is an aggressive defender of its Entacmaea quadricolor host anemone and will confront fish many times its own size. Its rarity in the trade makes it a prized find for dedicated clownfish collectors.
Provide a suitably sized host anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor preferred). Feed a varied diet of frozen mysis, Artemia, Spirulina-enriched flake, and quality marine pellets twice daily. Keep as a single specimen or confirmed mated pair — extremely aggressive toward other clownfish. Reef-safe toward corals outside the anemone territory. Stable high-quality saltwater is essential.
