Three-spot Eartheater

Satanoperca daemon is a large, majestic eartheater from the Orinoco and Rio Negro. Its three distinctive lateral spots and shimmering blue-green iridescence make it one of the most sought-after eartheaters. A mouthbrooder that can be kept in groups when given sufficient space and sandy substrate for sifting.

Water: 26-30°C, pH 5.5-7.0, soft to slightly hard water. Tank: Minimum 350L, deep fine sand, sparse décor to allow sifting and open swimming. Feeding: Sinking pellets, live and frozen invertebrates, quality cichlid food. Behaviour: Peaceful but territorial during spawning; best kept in groups of 4+. Compatibility: Compatible with large peaceful cichlids, large tetras, and robust catfish.
