Halichoeres trispilus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Threespot Wrasse is an uncommon Indo-Pacific species identified by three distinct dark spots along its lateral line set against a pale greenish body with subtle iridescent highlights. It inhabits rubble zones and mixed coral-sand habitats where it forages for small invertebrates, crustaceans, and worms. Rarely collected for the hobby trade, it represents an interesting and distinctive acquisition for the dedicated wrasse enthusiast seeking less commonly kept species.
Provide a sandy substrate of at least 5 cm depth for nighttime burial. Cover powerhead intakes with fine mesh. Feed frozen mysis, Artemia, and quality marine pellets multiple times daily. Reef-safe toward corals; may consume small ornamental shrimp. Provide a secure lid to prevent jumping. Compatible with most peaceful reef species of similar or larger size.
