Puntigrus tetrazona
Origin: Captive bred (Sumatra origin)
The Albino Tiger Barb is a selectively bred variant featuring a pale cream-white base body with faint pinkish-orange markings and red-tinted fins, creating a ghost-like version of the classic orange-and-black pattern. Its ethereal coloration provides a beautiful contrast when schooled alongside standard or green Tiger Barbs. Behavior and care requirements are identical to the standard Tiger Barb — a lively, slightly nippy schooling fish best kept in groups of 6 or more.
Keep in groups of 8 or more to minimize fin-nipping toward other species. Provide a planted aquarium with open swimming areas and moderate flow. Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, and frozen foods. Avoid housing with long-finned or slow species (angels, bettas, fancy guppies) that are vulnerable to nipping. Hardy and tolerant of a range of water conditions.
