Puntigrus tetrazona
Origin: Captive bred
The Long-fin Tiger Barb is a selectively bred variant with dramatically elongated dorsal, ventral, and caudal fins that flow gracefully as the fish swims, combining the visual appeal of fancy fins with the vivid orange-and-black striped pattern of the classic Tiger Barb. Groups of long-fin Tiger Barbs create a spectacular display of flowing color and movement. Their own mild fin-nipping tendency is suppressed in adequate group sizes.
Keep in groups of 8 or more to suppress intraspecific fin-nipping. Critically, do NOT house with standard short-finned Tiger Barbs or other fin-nipping species that will target the long fins. Provide planted tanks with open swimming areas. Feed quality flake, micro-pellets, and frozen foods. Hardy and adaptable.
