Tiger Loach

Schistura savona is a vividly marked nemacheilid with strong gold and black vertical banding reminiscent of a tiger's coat. Native to upland hill streams with moderate to fast flow, it is an active and alert loach that defends small territories. Despite territorial tendencies, it is easy to observe as it perches openly on flat stones in well-lit aquariums.

Water: 20-26°C, pH 6.5-7.5, well-aerated with good flow. Tank: Minimum 60 L, smooth pebbles, slate overhangs, open swimming areas. Feeding: Sinking pellets, frozen daphnia, bloodworm, small invertebrates. Behaviour: Bold and inquisitive; will display to conspecifics from territory. Compatibility: Semi-aggressive with own species; compatible with medium community fish.
