Caridina cf. cantonensis
Origin: Captive bred
Tiger Orange Eye Shrimp (Caridina cf. cantonensis 'Tiger OE') are a striking variant distinguished by their high-contrast tiger-striped pattern and vivid orange eyes that glow brilliantly under aquarium lighting. Slightly more demanding than Neocaridina but more adaptable than extreme-specialist Taiwan bee shrimp, they represent an accessible entry point into the Caridina genus for shrimp keepers ready to graduate from beginner species. They do best in soft, slightly acidic water with low hardness.
Maintain in soft, slightly acidic water: pH 6.0–7.0, GH 4–8, KH 0–4, temperature 20–25°C. Use RO water remineralized with a Caridina-specific mineral additive. Sponge filtration only. Feed high-quality shrimp foods: spirulina wafers, biofilm-promoting products, and blanched vegetables. Never use copper-containing medications. Stable parameters are more important than achieving exact values — avoid rapid fluctuations.
