Paracheilinus togeanensis
Origin: Togean Islands, Sulawesi, Indonesia
Paracheilinus togeanensis originates from the Togean Islands of Sulawesi, Indonesia, and is distinguished by the elaborate trailing dorsal and anal fin filaments of terminal males, which are displayed in spectacular rapid-color flashing courtship dances. Its limited collection range keeps availability lower than other flasher wrasses, adding to its appeal as a collector species. Like all flasher wrasses it is peaceful, active, and reef-safe, and flashes most reliably in the presence of females and a safe, stable environment.
Keep in a harem group: one terminal male with two or more females encourages regular flashing displays. Provide a tight-fitting lid — flasher wrasses are strong jumpers. Feed frozen mysis, Artemia, copepods, and quality marine pellets multiple times daily. Reef-safe toward all corals and invertebrates. Avoid housing with aggressive fish that may stress or prevent regular flashing behavior.
