Amphiprion frenatus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Amphiprion frenatus — the tomato clownfish — is a deep red to orange clownfish with a single white head bar. Adults, especially females, develop a notably dark red colouration. It is hardier than ocellaris in some respects but significantly more aggressive and territorial, particularly when hosting an anemone. It is associated with Entacmaea quadricolor (bubble-tip anemone) in nature. Best kept as a single pair in a dedicated tank with host anemone.
Light: any. Flow: moderate. Feed: omnivore diet. Single pair only — aggressive. Host anemone strongly encouraged. Reef-safe with caution near other fish.
