Cirrhilabrus tonozukai
Origin: Lesser Sunda Islands, Indonesia
Cirrhilabrus tonozukai from the Lesser Sunda Islands is a visually striking fairy wrasse, with terminal males displaying a deep crimson body that grades to orange on the ventral surface and bears iridescent blue margins on the fins. Named in honor of its discoverer Tonozuka, it remains a sought-after collector species among marine hobbyists. Like all fairy wrasses it is peaceful, active in the open water column, and entirely reef-safe.
Keep with peaceful reef tank mates and ideally as a harem to stimulate full color expression in males. Provide a tight-fitting lid as fairy wrasses are prone to jumping. Feed frozen mysis, Artemia, copepods, and quality marine pellets multiple times daily. Reef-safe toward all corals and invertebrates. Allow 1–2 weeks for full acclimation and color development.
