Toxotes microlepis
Origin: Southeast Asia, Thailand
Toxotes microlepis, the Smallscale Archerfish, is a predominantly freshwater archerfish smaller than T. jaculatrix. Inhabits freshwater rivers and streams. Shoots water jets at overhanging insects and fruit. Fascinating species for paludarium setups.
Provide overhanging features for target practice. 150 L+. Temperature 25–30°C, pH 7.0–8.0. Feed crickets, mealworms, floating pellets. Group of 3+. Freshwater tolerant — no salt needed unlike T. jaculatrix.
