Epiplatys annulatus
Also known as: Clown Killifish, Banded Panchax, Rocket Killifish
Origin: Guinea, Nigeria, West Africa
Epiplatys annulatus is found in slow-moving or still jungle streams, pools, and drainage ditches across coastal West Africa. Males display bold vertical bands in black and yellow with spectacular lyre-tail finnage. It is a surface-dwelling species that appreciates floating plants and a calm water surface.
Water: 20–26 °C, pH 4.5–7.0, soft water preferred (GH 1–10). Tank: 20 L minimum; floating plants essential for cover; tight lid — they jump. Feeding: Floating micro pellets, fruit flies, small bloodworm, baby brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful; males may spar briefly; keep pairs or trios; good community nano fish. Compatibility: Lower-level nano fish; nano shrimp; avoid fin nippers.
