Corydoras treitlii
Origin: Brazil (Piaui River)
Corydoras treitlii is an elegant and rarely encountered long-snouted Corydoras from the Piaui River system in northeastern Brazil, one of the more morphologically unusual species in the genus due to its notably elongated snout adapted for probing substrate for invertebrates. Rarely available commercially, it is a prized find for dedicated Corydoras collectors and enthusiasts. Like all Corydoras, it requires clean, warm water and a soft substrate to protect its sensitive barbels.
Provide a soft, fine sand substrate — avoid gravel that damages the delicate barbels during foraging. Feed sinking Corydoras-specific foods: wafers, frozen bloodworm, Tubifex, and Artemia. Keep in groups of 6 or more for natural social behavior. Partial water changes of 25% weekly. Sensitive to poor water quality — ammonia and nitrite must be maintained at zero. Compatible with all peaceful community fish.
