Carassius auratus
Also known as: Tri-color Ranchu, Three-color Ranchu, Fancy Goldfish
Origin: Japan
Tri-color ranchu with well-distributed red, white, and black markings are considered among the finest show specimens available. Achieving balanced coloration requires good genetics, a high-quality diet, and stable water conditions. These fish are prized by serious goldfish collectors and command premium prices at auction.
Water: 10–22°C, pH 6.5–7.5, excellent water quality for optimal color development. Tank: minimum 150 L, bare-bottom or fine sand, sponge filter recommended. Feeding: varied diet including color-enhancing pellets, peas, and frozen daphnia. Behaviour: calm and social; forms bonds with tank mates and owners alike. Compatibility: best with other ranchu; avoid fin-nippers or fast surface feeders.
