Amphiprion percula
Origin: Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea
Amphiprion percula, the True Percula Clownfish, closely resembles the Ocellaris Clownfish but is distinguished by a deeper, richer orange hue and thicker, more prominent black borders around each white bar. Native to the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea, it forms a natural symbiotic bond with Heteractis magnifica anemones. A stunning and beloved centerpiece for smaller reef aquariums, it is entirely reef-safe and hardy enough for beginner marine hobbyists.
House in a reef aquarium with a Heteractis magnifica anemone as the preferred host, though it will thrive without one. Feed a varied diet of frozen mysis, Artemia, Spirulina-enriched flake, and quality marine pellets twice daily. Keep as a single specimen or confirmed mated pair — clownfish are territorial toward conspecifics. Captive-bred specimens are strongly recommended for hardiness and to support conservation.
