About

Danio (Brachydanio) sp. 'turquoise' — sometimes referred to as Danio sp. from Assam or Arunachal Pradesh — is a colourful and active hill stream danio displaying vivid turquoise-blue iridescence with bold orange horizontal banding. It inhabits cool, clear, fast-flowing streams and requires excellent oxygenation and moderate to strong water movement in the aquarium. A spectacular species for aquarists seeking a visually striking and active schooler.

Care Guide

Water: 18–24°C, pH 6.5–7.5, moderate hardness (GH 5–15); high oxygen, moderate to strong current essential. Tank: 60 L minimum; wide tank with strong filtration and open swimming space. Feeding: Omnivore; flake, micro-pellets, frozen daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworm. Behaviour: Peaceful active schooler; keep in groups of 8+; very fast and constantly on the move. Compatibility: Ideal with other cool-water cyprinids; White Cloud Minnows, other hill stream danios, and small corydoras.
