Betta tussyae

Origin: Pahang, Malaysia
Betta tussyae is found in the peat swamp forests of Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia, where it inhabits shallow, extremely soft and acidic blackwater. Males show subdued but beautiful iridescence with pale body scaling and dark striping. This species is rarely available and commands interest among wild betta enthusiasts.
Water: 23–27°C, pH 4.0–6.5, very soft (0–5 GH), tannin-rich blackwater. Tank: 30L minimum, heavy leaf litter, dim lighting, tight lid. Feeding: Small live and frozen invertebrates; reluctant to accept dry food. Behaviour: Peaceful mouthbrooder; males brood 10–12 days. Compatibility: Species tank strongly recommended.
