Anampses twistii
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Twisti Wrasse is an uncommon Indo-Pacific species recognized by terminal males' striking yellow body adorned with horizontal rows of blue spots and dashes — one of the more visually distinctive Anampses wrasses. Females and juveniles display vivid white spots on a dark background. Like all Anampses species it buries in sand at night and is sensitive to poor water quality, making it more challenging to keep than typical Halichoeres wrasses.
Provide a sandy substrate of at least 7 cm depth for nighttime burial. Cover all pump intakes. Maintain excellent, stable water quality — Anampses wrasses are more sensitive to parameters than many marine fish. Feed frozen mysis, Artemia, and quality marine pellets multiple times daily. May be reluctant to feed initially — live Artemia or live mysis can help stimulate appetite. Provide a tight-fitting lid.
