Corydoras bicolor
Also known as: Two-color Cory, Bicolor Cory
Origin: South America
Corydoras bicolor is an uncommon Peruvian species where the front of the body is notably lighter than the rear, creating an eye-catching two-tone appearance. It inhabits soft, acidic blackwater streams and requires similar conditions in captivity. It is a rewarding species for intermediate keepers who can provide appropriate water chemistry.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft, slightly acidic; avoid hard or alkaline water. Tank: 60L+, fine sand substrate, dim lighting, tannin-stained blackwater conditions ideal. Feeding: Sinking wafers, small frozen foods including bloodworm and daphnia, quality micro pellets. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling bottom dweller; group of 6+ essential for confidence. Compatibility: Best in soft-water community with tetras and other South American species.
