Aphyosemion bivittatum

Origin: Cameroon, Nigeria
Aphyosemion bivittatum is found in forest streams of Cameroon and Nigeria, where males display two distinct horizontal stripes from snout to tail with red-orange fin edging. Multiple population variants exist with slightly differing colour patterns, making it a collector's favourite. It is moderately easy to keep and breed.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft, slightly acidic. Tank: 40L minimum, floating plants, spawning mops or fine-leaved plants for egg deposition. Feeding: Carnivore — live/frozen micro-invertebrates preferred; accepts small pellets. Behaviour: Males may spar briefly; generally peaceful. Compatibility: Keep with small peaceful species or as a species pair.
