Vampire Crab Red

Geosesarma hagen is a small, semi-terrestrial crab from Java, Indonesia, prized for its rich crimson body colouration and vivid, orange-yellow eyes. It thrives in humid tropical paludarium setups with access to both water and land zones, feeding on fallen fruits, detritus, and meaty foods. It is among the most visually spectacular freshwater invertebrates available.

Water: 24–28°C, pH 7.5–8.0; freshwater water feature in a paludarium; high ambient humidity (80%+) required. Tank: Minimum 40L paludarium with substantial land area, tropical plants, leaf litter, and cork bark hides. Feeding: Fallen fruit, dried insects, blanched greens, sinking pellets, and bloodworm. Behaviour: Primarily terrestrial; active at night; territorial toward others — provide ample space and hides. Compatibility: Species-only paludarium; not suitable for fish or shrimp tanks.
