Betta splendens
Origin: Captive bred (Southeast Asia)
The Giant Gold Veiltail Betta combines the classic long, flowing veiltail finnage with the giant betta gene that produces a fish significantly larger and more imposing than standard Betta splendens. The rich golden-yellow body and dramatically sweeping fins create a majestic, larger-than-life display fish that commands attention in any aquarium. Giants require more space and consistent warm, clean water than regular bettas to support their greater body mass.
House singly in a minimum 20 L tank — one male per tank only. Provide a heater to maintain 24–28°C consistently. Use a gentle sponge filter to avoid damaging delicate fins in strong currents. Feed high-quality betta pellets, frozen bloodworms, and daphnia. Perform 20–25% water changes weekly. Giant bettas are more susceptible to fin rot in suboptimal conditions — pristine water quality is paramount.
