Carassius auratus
Origin: Captive bred
The Veiltail is prized for its extraordinarily long, fully divided double tail that drapes like a veil through the water, achieved through generations of selective breeding. This red-and-white variety offers a graceful, elegant display in a calm aquarium or cool outdoor pond. The delicate finnage requires a low-flow environment with no sharp decorations that could tear the flowing tail. A timeless and beautiful addition to a goldfish-only aquarium.
House in a minimum 150 L tank or pond with gentle filtration — strong currents stress veiltails and damage fins. Maintain temperature 10–22°C; goldfish are coldwater fish and do not require heating in temperate rooms. Feed high-quality sinking goldfish pellets to avoid swim bladder issues from surface feeding. Perform 20–30% weekly water changes. Avoid sharp decorations; provide smooth rounded ornaments only.
