Yssichromis laparogramma
Also known as: Victorian Torpedo Hap, Laparogramma Hap
Origin: Lake Victoria, Africa
Yssichromis laparogramma is a slender, open-water haplochromine from Lake Victoria adapted for life in the pelagic zone above rocky reefs. Males develop gold and blue iridescent colouration. It is one of the more active Victorian haplochromines and shows interesting schooling tendencies, making it suitable for a large Victorian community aquarium with room to swim.
Water: 23-27°C, pH 7.2-8.5, hard water with good circulation. Tank: 150L minimum; ample open swimming space essential for active species. Feeding: Omnivore; plankton-based frozen foods, quality pellets, daphnia. Behaviour: Relatively peaceful for a Victorian cichlid; mild territorial behaviour. Compatibility: Good with other Victorian open-water haplochromines.
