Aphyosemion wachtersi
Also known as: Wachters' Killifish
Origin: Cameroon
Aphyosemion wachtersi is a non-annual killifish from the forested lowlands of Cameroon. Males are adorned with a dense mosaic of red and blue-green spots across the body and fins, creating a tapestry-like effect that is especially vivid under soft aquarium lighting. It requires soft, acidic water and a settled, quiet environment, and is best maintained as a species tank or with similarly docile micro-fish.
Water: 20–24 °C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft and acidic. Tank: 30 L planted species tank; floating plants; leaf litter beneficial; secure lid. Feeding: Live and frozen micro-invertebrates; high-quality dried food accepted. Behaviour: Males display to rivals; keep one male with two to three females. Compatibility: Species tank or with very peaceful small nano fish only.
