Fundulopanchax walkeri
Also known as: Walker's Killifish, Walker's Fundulopanchax
Origin: Ghana, Ivory Coast
Fundulopanchax walkeri is a larger, more robust West African killifish that inhabits forest streams and pools of Ghana and Ivory Coast. Males are boldly coloured with yellowish-orange bodies and red-spotted fins. Unlike many killifish it tolerates a relatively wide range of water chemistry, making it accessible to intermediate keepers.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, moderately soft to moderately hard. Tank: 60L minimum, spawning mops or peat, tight lid — strong jumpers. Feeding: Carnivore — live/frozen bloodworm, daphnia, earthworm pieces; pellets accepted. Behaviour: Males semi-aggressive toward each other; one male per tank preferred. Compatibility: Can be kept with robust dither fish; avoid timid nano species.
