Biotodoma wavrini
Also known as: Wavrini Eartheater, Orinoco Eartheater
Origin: South America
Biotodoma wavrini is a slender, elegant eartheater with a large central lateral ocellus and soft blue-grey colouration. Requiring very soft, acidic blackwater conditions, it is more demanding than its cousin Biotodoma cupido but rewards the dedicated keeper with an exceptionally graceful display.
Water: 26-30°C, pH 4.5-6.5, very soft water essential (0-5 dGH). Tank: Minimum 180L, fine white sand, driftwood and leaf litter for blackwater effect. Feeding: Small sinking pellets, micro granules, frozen bloodworm, daphnia; avoid large chunks. Behaviour: Peaceful and shy; sensitive to aggression from tankmates. Compatibility: Best with small, peaceful South American species; avoid boisterous fish.
