Corydoras weitzmani
Origin: Peru (Madre de Dios River system)
Corydoras weitzmani is a stunning and infrequently imported corydoras from the Madre de Dios River system in Peru, bearing a bold black mid-body saddle and sharply contrasting black-and-white patterning that makes it stand out even among the most colourful corydoras species. Closely resembling C. trilineatus but with its own devoted collector following, it thrives in groups in well-planted, low-current aquariums where its natural foraging behaviour can be fully expressed.
Keep in groups of at least 6 in an 80 L minimum tank with a soft, fine sand substrate and dense planting. Feed sinking wafers, frozen bloodworms, and daphnia. Maintain temperature 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5. Perform 20–25% weekly water changes; corydoras are sensitive to accumulated nitrates. Compatible with small peaceful tetras, dwarf cichlids, and other Amazonian species. Handle with care — pectoral spines can prick.
