Tanichthys albonubes
Origin: China (cultivated variety)
The Long-fin White Cloud Mountain Minnow is a cultivated variety of Tanichthys albonubes with dramatically extended fins that amplify the graceful movement of this already elegant species. Equally cold-tolerant and hardy as the standard form, it thrives in unheated aquariums at room temperature and is one of the most suitable fish for cool European indoor environments. The iridescent lateral stripe and red-tipped fins make it one of the most beautiful small schooling fish for temperate community tanks.
Keep in groups of at least 6 in a 40 L or larger unheated or mildly heated tank. Temperature 14–22°C — avoids the need for a heater in typical Belgian/Dutch room temperatures. Feed micro pellets, daphnia, and frozen cyclops. Performs best in cool, clean, well-oxygenated water. Provide gentle filtration to protect delicate long fins. Compatible with other small coldwater species such as rosy barbs and paradise fish.
