Neocaridina davidi var.
Also known as: White Pearl Shrimp, Pearl Neocaridina
Origin: Captive bred (originally East Asia)
The White Pearl Shrimp is a white Neocaridina davidi morph displaying a soft, pearlescent white colouration with a subtle iridescent quality that distinguishes it from the more fully opaque Snow White Caridina or Indian White Neocaridina. The pearl-like sheen gives it an understated elegance particularly suited to minimalist, natural-style aquascapes.
As a Neocaridina, the White Pearl is fully beginner-friendly. It shares the genus's characteristic adaptability, tolerating a wide range of dechlorinated tap water parameters without any need for RO equipment or special substrates. It breeds prolifically in stable conditions.
The White Pearl's softer, more translucent white colouration makes it a complementary contrast piece when combined with brightly coloured Neocaridina morphs, or a clean, subtle choice for aquarists preferring a calm, light colour palette.
Water: 18–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–15, KH 2–8; standard dechlorinated tap water suitable. Tank: minimum 20 L; plants and mosses for cover; light substrate or dark both work well. Feeding: algae wafers, blanched vegetables, shrimp pellets, biofilm. Breeding: easy; 20–30 eggs per clutch; fry fully independent in mature established tanks. Compatibility: peaceful; ideal with small nano fish and other Neocaridina; shrimp-safe only.
