Amphiprion latezonatus
Origin: Eastern Australia, Lord Howe Island
Amphiprion latezonatus is one of the rarest clownfish in the trade, endemic to the temperate eastern Australian coast and Lord Howe Island. Its dark body bears an exceptionally wide mid-body white bar — nearly twice the width of related species — creating an immediately recognisable and highly sought-after silhouette. Captive-bred specimens are increasingly available and adapt well, though their temperate origin means they prefer slightly cooler temperatures than most clownfish.
House in a minimum 150 L reef tank at temperature 22–26°C — slightly cooler than most tropical reef setups; this is a temperate-zone species. Provide a compatible host anemone. Feed a varied diet of pellets, frozen mysis, and enriched brine shrimp. SG 1.020–1.025. Best kept as a mated pair. Captive-bred specimens recommended as wild collection from restricted range would be unsustainable.
