Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Wine Red Shrimp
Origin: Captive bred (Taiwan lineage)
Wine Red Shrimp are a premium Caridina cantonensis colour morph occupying a niche between standard Crystal Red and high-grade Wine Red lines, characterised by a deep burgundy-red body with substantial white coverage. This upgraded grade has been selectively maintained for consistent colouration and pattern across generations. They require the same soft, acidic conditions as other high-grade Caridina and are best kept in a species-specific setup.
Water: 20–24°C, pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 100–150, GH 4–6, KH 0–2; active buffering substrate. Tank: minimum 20 L, moss, driftwood, and leaf litter for biofilm production. Feeding: powdered shrimp food, biofilm, algae; small amounts daily. Behaviour: peaceful grazer; colony benefits from 15+ individuals. Compatibility: shrimp-only; compatible with non-predatory snails.
