Caridina cantonensis
Origin: Taiwan (captive-bred)
The Wine Red Shrimp is an elegantly coloured Taiwan Bee variant of Caridina cantonensis displaying a deep burgundy-red and white banded pattern that places it among the most sophisticated Taiwan Bee variants. Its rich colouration intensifies with age under optimal water conditions. Demanding care requirements are identical to other Caridina cantonensis varieties — very soft, slightly acidic, low TDS water is non-negotiable for long-term health and breeding success.
Maintain in a minimum 20 L shrimp tank with active buffering substrate (aquasoil) maintaining pH 5.8–6.8. Use RO water remineralised to GH 1–6, KH 0–2, TDS 100–150 ppm, temperature 20–24°C. Feed powdered shrimp food, biofilm tablets, and blanched spinach. Never use copper-based products. Drip acclimate all new additions. Weekly 10–15% water changes with parameter-matched RO water. Do not mix with Neocaridina shrimp.
