Austrolebias wolterstorffi

Origin: Uruguay, southern Brazil
Austrolebias wolterstorffi is one of the most spectacular annual South American killifish, with males attaining a relatively impressive size and displaying a bold contrast of blue-black body colouration and striking silver-white pearl spots. Native to seasonal pools in Uruguay and southern Brazil, it demands cool water and proper peat egg-incubation management, and is best kept by experienced annual killifish enthusiasts.
Water: 15–22 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard; cool temperatures essential. Tank: 40 L cool species tank; peat substrate for spawning; tight lid. Feeding: Large live and frozen invertebrates; blood worm, Daphnia, Artemia. Behaviour: Males aggressive; keep one male with two females and provide sight breaks. Compatibility: Species tank only.
