Pelvicachromis taeniatus 'Wouri'
Also known as: Wouri Krib, Wouri River Kribensis
Origin: West Africa (Cameroon, Wouri River)
The Wouri Krib is named for the Wouri River drainage in coastal Cameroon, one of many geographically distinct forms of Pelvicachromis taeniatus. It exhibits the typical features of the species — cave-spawning behaviour, pair bonding, and strong parental care — while displaying locality-specific colouration that makes it attractive to collectors.
Water: 24–27°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft and slightly acidic. Tank: Minimum 80L; use caves and dense planting to encourage breeding and reduce aggression. Feeding: Varied diet of micro pellets, live and frozen invertebrates. Behaviour: Paired adults spawn in caves and guard fry zealously against all tankmates. Compatibility: Works well in community tanks with small schooling fish above the bottom zone.
