Symphysodon aequifasciatus
Origin: Captive bred
The Yellow Face Blue Discus is a visually distinctive bicolor strain featuring a warm golden-yellow face and forehead that transitions sharply into a rich, cobalt-blue body — a striking two-tone effect that creates a bold, graphic profile unlike more uniform discus varieties. Highly sought after in Belgian and Dutch discus shops for its unusual and sophisticated colour combination and excellent body conformation that makes it competitive on the show circuit.
Maintain in groups of at least 5 in a minimum 200 L tank: pH 6.0–7.0, GH 2–8, KH 0–3, temperature 28–31°C. Frequent partial water changes (25–30% every 1–2 days) are essential for maintaining vivid colouration and health. Feed beef heart mix, frozen bloodworms, and high-quality discus pellets. Use warm-spectrum lighting (3000–4000K) to showcase both the yellow face and blue body to best effect.
