Yellow King Kong Shrimp (Caridina cantonensis variant)

The Yellow King Kong Shrimp is a striking Caridina cantonensis variant displaying an intense golden-yellow and white patterning that stands out vividly against the green backdrop of a planted nano aquarium. It is particularly rewarding when kept alongside Crystal Red, Crystal Black, or Shadow Mosura variants for dramatic colour contrast. Shares the demanding care requirements of all Taiwan Bee variants — pristine soft, slightly acidic, low-TDS water is essential.

Maintain in a minimum 20 L dedicated shrimp tank with active buffering aquasoil (pH 5.8–6.8). Use RO water remineralised to GH 1–6, KH 0–2, TDS 100–150 ppm, temperature 20–24°C. Feed powdered shrimp food and biofilm-promoting tablets. Never use copper-based medications or plant treatments. Weekly 10–15% water changes with parameter-matched RO water. Drip acclimate all additions. Keep separate from Neocaridina shrimp to prevent hybridisation.
